About Let's Move It

This summer Radio 2 is encouraging the nation to get moving!

We all know the benefits of fitness and exercise to our physical and mental health, but sometimes getting started is the hardest part. Step forward the Radio 2 family to lend a hand, against a backdrop of a massive summer of sport - including the Olympics and Paralympics, the Men's Euros, Wimbledon, and much more.

Highlights of the season, which runs from Mon 15 July to Friday 23 August, include...

A special Pace Setter series fronted by Radio 2 presenters, available on BBC Sounds and featuring:

  • Vernon Kay gets you moving with 90s dance anthems
  • Jo Whiley brings happy energy to your workout
  • Romesh Ranganathan brings big rap banger energy
  • Trevor Nelson picks R&B gold to get you over the line
  • Gary Davies delivers the ultimate 80s workout
  • Michelle Visage is serving an hour of huge workout hits
  • Dermot O'Leary's monster rock run!

We'll be encouraging you to pledge your own fitness goals via our Get In Touch page. Not just running – could be swimming, Zumba, yoga. The more interesting the better!

Couch to 5k will host Radio 2 content within their app for the duration of the project.

In collaboration with parkrun in Dermot O'Leary's Saturday morning show. In 'UnderCover Runner' Dermot will send a Radio 2 presenter to a parkrun in a secret location.

Jeremy Vine will be talking to the nominees of BBC Local Radio's Make A Difference Awards about how they are making movement within their local communities more accessible to all.

Let’s Move It is all about encouraging you to incorporate more movement into your day to day lives, whatever your ability or fitness level.

The NHS says that adults should do some type of physical activity every day. There are multiple benefits to our physical and mental health.

You should speak to your GP first if you have not exercised for some time, or if you have medical conditions or concerns.

Make sure your activity and its intensity are appropriate for your fitness.

For more detailed information on exercise at any age or stage of life, or fitness level please visit the NHS website.
