This Basic life support course will give you the confidence to act quickly and effectively if someone has a cardiac arrest. Those attending will learn how to perform effective CPR and how to operate a defibrillator.
A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, every second matters. Early intervention can save lives.
This course will give learners the skills and knowledge to act in an emergency situation providing the casualty with critical life-saving assistance until support arrives.
This course also covers the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and is delivered following the protocols set by the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines.
Assessment: You will be required to successfully complete a short multiple choice paper and will be assessed on your practical skills to qualify for your certificate.
The Basic Life Support course has a mix of theory and practical elements. You will be required to kneel on the floor for some of the practical elements.
- Students should be aware that they must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.
- Students must be physically able to carry out the practical assessments detailed in the course content to achieve the course certificate
